Operational Detachment Alpha 585

ODA 585 is the newest team formed in Bear Force CT Unit. As our numbers grew, it was clear that Bear Force needed a special "training" team for new recruits. This team trains the new members, this training includes but surely is not limited to: proper conduct, following the chain of command, combat effectiveness etc. ODA 585 trains new future leaders and tough combatants which someday will be
the backbone of this Company.

When the 18X has succesfully passed his 1month trial period he is moved to ODA 574 or remains in ODA 585, depending on the situation. Sometimes also if the Detachment Commander feels like the new member has not improved in the 30month period enough he will remain in this team for more training. The 18X in some cases has the opportunity to remain as a permanent instructor to this team if he is qualified enough. Usually the soldier is transferred to another ODA, the decision which ODA will be his new home comes from Command Staff with assistance of A-585's Commander. The requirements to achieve a place in the the units competition team, ODA 574 is very hard. And also it needs to be mentioned that though you are a long member of A-585 doesnt mean you are a lesser member than others. A-585 members serve as replacements to the competition unit, A-574, as they improve skills they will become permanent members of A-574, the number one team.

The team name, ODA 585 or A-585 comes from a real life SF team from 5th Special Forces Group. This team was the very first one to be deployed in the early stages of Operation Enduring Freedom. The team was deployed to Afghanistan, 24th of October 2001.

Motto: Till the end!
