We had our plans sorted out somewhat and started our work on defending the objectives, things went smoothly, we had few rounds where we were in trouble but thanks for some great individual efforts we managed to handle those. After the 6 rounds in defense we were leading 6-0.
We then moved to assault and didnt have that big of plans in mind. We just went how we felt the best and it yielded some good results. We won the first round and the match win was secured for us. After all rounds were played the end result was 7-5 in favor of us.

MAJ Nooz writes "We had a match last night against a team whos history we knew quite well. We were attacking their first place on the ladder which they held with a 5/0 record.
Speaking about their history, we mean that their means of getting wins on the ladder are bit "shady" to say the least. We knew quite well how their concept would be in this match.
They started by giving us some "free" rounds which we won easily. But after few of those, they started their show. The map was in our favour gladly and we had some tricks to defend against them from their blatant acts of... well lets leave that unsaid.
After the 12 rounds of play, the score was 6-6 and we moved to overtime in Urban Assault. First round was a tie but in the second, our soldiers killed the two opfors and won the round and the match 7-6. This ment that we had taken the first place from our opponent.

MAJ Nooz writes "Our first match in 2010 took place last night on the TWL EU 4v4 Objective Ladder. The stakes were no higher than the first place on the ladder, we were facing a known Polish opponent from our previous matches.
We have had over 1 month hiatus from matches so our expectations were not that high. But nevertheless, Pipeline has suited us allways quite well. We were to start on assault, took three rounds and then moved to defense. It was not that easy and the opponent was coming back to the game by taking rounds. It was 6-5 for .bf when the last round started. With some good nading by CPT PolluxTroy the round was over allmost before it started. We had secured a 7-5 Win and achieved the first place on the ladder.
Last time we were holding the #1 spot in the same ladder was in 2007, this match marked our 157th win on the TWL Ladders.

105 Days of Glory

MAJ Nooz writes "70 years ago, Soviets launched an attack against Finland with 21
divisions, with some 450,000 men, and bombed Helsinki. Winter War had
started, a conflict which was part of the Second World War was a huge
effort on our part against overwhelming numbers.
The Frozen Hell lasted for 105 days, the war took place during Winter
1939 which is known for its extreme weather conditions. USSR
made an unprovoked attack against Finland with only one goal in mind,
to take the independence away and invade Finland.
Little
did the Soviets knew, that the total strength of the Soviet Army
~1,000,000 would fail miserably. Finns had a total strength roughly
near 350,000 men with no chance to compete against the Soviet men power
nor equipment details.
It has been credited that the "Spirit
of Winter War", the national unity, saved Finland from breaking under
the Russian invasion during the Winter War. The feat was truly
remarkable and will shine on the leaves of history for decades to come.
Winter War lasted for 105 days, from November 30th 1939 to
March 13th 1940. It ended in the Interim Peace. Finland lost some
territory but secured its independence. The casualty numbers were high
on both sides, but especially on the Russian side, which was devastated
by the determination of the Finnish soldiers. The casualty estimates
vary high on the Soviet side but they were near 126,000 men dead or
missing. (Finland 25,000).
We here at Bear Force CT Unit would
want on this special 70th anniversary of the Winter War, offer our
utmost gratitude and thanks for the veterans of the Winter War for
saving us and granting us the freedom we enjoy this day.

After some delays we started on Weapons Cache and first assaulted. The opponent had their tactics sorted and we had some issues handling those. After two consequtive round losses we started to succeed, thanks to Captain PolluxTroy. The two last assault rounds were close and which went all the way to the end, in both rounds CPT Troy managed to secure us the round wins just few seconds left on the clock. We then moved to defense and with rutine, took care of business. We were leading 6-2 after the first map.
Map was changed to Pipeline where we would start on Assault first. It could have not started better, we won the first round immediately, after this our opponent got bit frustrated and started the taunting. MAJ Nooz writes "Like previously mentioned in our news, today was our fifth year "anniversary" day. What a better way to celebrate it than a good match which eventually brought us a win.
We were defending our 1st place on the ladder on Weapons Cache SE. The venue of war changed suddenly when the opponent suggested something else than the originally selected SF Courtyard. We didn't mind the change. Started on assault, the opponent was dig in deep and we had serious troubles breaching the lines. We were close many times but after our assault we only managed to take 1 round.
We then moved to defense and thought the give the enemy it's own medicine. Captains PolluxTroy and Burton were raising havoc and the opponent didn't stand a chance breaching our lines. 1LT Porthos was handling the pieces left from our Captains assault and our last line of defense was Sergeant Softwar who demonstrated gallantry which rarely is witnessed on any soldier.
After 12 rounds we had secured a 7-5 match win and still firmly hold our number 1 place on the ladder with 8/2 record. GJT

MAJ Nooz writes "Last evening we had a match in the TWL EU 4v4 CQB Ladder, we had chosen Weapons Cache as our map and the opponent picked Insurgent Camp. It promised to be fast paced action.
First map was Weapons Cache where we started on assault. Like our intel had reported the opponent was strong and they made our assault really hard. Though their efforts and tactics trying to confuse us we managed to take 1 round in assault. We then switched to defense, Captain PolluxTroy had his hands full on his location while we were covering other entry points. We handled defense like we have done many times, taking all rounds successfully and winning the map 5-3.
The map was then changed to the opponents map, Insurgent Camp. We like the map but haven't had a real battle there for a long time. We started on assault and had just one goal in mind, to get in to the building. We indeed managed to do this and successfully secured a round win in assault. If CPT PolluxTroy had his hands full on WC, Corporal Zero was having a real effort on IC, while others were watching close by, CPL Zero allmost single handedly took care of business with his SAW, securing important rounds for us. When few of our defensive rounds were played on IC the match Win was secured and the opponent left the server. End score 9-5 for .bf. GJT.

We had chosen Weapons Cache and the opponents map was SF Dockside. Both maps were to be played 2x4 rounds. We started on the opponents map, SF Dockside. It was a quite even battle. Both teams taking rounds and fighting hard. Our players were quite "cold", we hadnt played that much recently so it wasnt easy for us. But in the end, after SF Dockside was played we were leading the match 4-3 (1 tie).
Moved to our map, Weapons Cache, we were defending first. No problems in the first round but in the second, everything went wrong and we lost it. MAJ Nooz writes "Once again, in a short time we got the priviledge to play a Pipeline match on the TWL EU 4v4 OBJ Ladder. Our journey during this "Operation Comeback" has been a success so far. Tonight we continued successfully again, with probably the strongest performance since the operation started.
We were facing a tough and determined enemy, who's skills were not underestimated. We started on assault, used tactics which have proven to be very effective previously. This time we just executed them with even more precise actions. Captain Burton once again shined with his M203 while Captain Troy was engaged in heavy firefights nearby the main entrance. Master Sergeant Hokki was engaged with CPT Burton and worked as the the SOP orders and did some superior leaning! All of this combined with the fearless and determined work by the Company Commander, assault was very successfull for us, ending in a 4-2 result for us.
We then quickly moved to defense, hastly took our defensive positions and quickly were engaged in fierce firefights with the enemy. The enemy pushed very hard and we had our hands full. But it was nothing we could not handle in the end, Captain Troy's SAW fire was furious and slowed the enemy drasticly with the support of CPT Burton's grenade fire. The CO was handling the "toimisto" and kept it clear with the support of MSG Hokki. The enemy managed to take one round but that was it. The match ended in a 9-3 victory for Bear Force CT Unit. Nice teamwork soldiers!
We currently hold the 4th place on the ladder with a 7/1 record and look forward to more fun games!

On Target!

MAJ Nooz writes "Four Bear Force CT Unit soldiers were part of a fierce engagement this evening on Bridge SE. The fight was intense and it was raining steel. We started the match on Defense, took our defensive positions and waited the enemy to make their move. The opfor probably gave their best but it wasnt enough. Captain Burton played an important role as the Grenadier on defense. Major was calling in strikes and Captain delivered with deadly precision. It was 6-0 for us when we swapped to assault.
First rounds on assault were not that good, opfor took us down one by one, but in the fourth assault round we had more men coming in from the same place and with furious AR support, grenades and smoke cover we destroyed the enemy firing positions in the hill and managed to take that round. That round win also secured us a 7-3 match win. A radio convo is available from the match here. You can listen the CO calling in indirect fire support.

.bf victorious on Pipeline

MAJ Nooz writes "Operation Comeback continued Monday, one could say we made a return to our roots, with a match in the legendary Pipeline. We were facing a British team who were well familiar with this theatre of operations as well.
We started on defense. Used tactics from our previous engagements in this map and they worked quite well with few glitches which can be blamed for the bad preparation and a quite long brake from a match in this map. We managed to take 4 defensive rounds and it was 4-2 for us when we switched sides to assault.
Assault started good, our determination finally gave results and the enemy lines were breached few times. The score was 6-3 for us and 3 rounds remaining, this ment that we had allready secured a tie and needed 1 round from the remaining three to win it. Our consentration was somewhat distracted and it had to be settled in the last round. Indeed that happened and we secured the match win in the last assault round, making the end score 7-5 for Bear Force CT Unit.
